TOTEM Leadership Team
Samson is an Anaesthetics and ICM registrar in London. He started TOTEM in 2024 after completing FUSIC HD accreditation, with the intention of making critical care echo more accessible. He’s passionate about FOAMed, climate justice, global equity and international politics, and founded the NGO 4Water in 2009. He loves dancing, exercise, the outdoors and animals, and is the proud guardian of two cats.
Piet is a final year Anaesthetics trainee from South Africa, FATE mentor and educator, and founder of Echo Snippets!
Gokul is an Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care trainee in the Oxford Deanery with a strong interest in ultrasound, particularly echo. He is currently working towards BSE Level 2 accreditation. Before medicine he was a competitive gamer, representing India in multiple international tournaments. These days, the ultrasound probe has replaced the controller.
Simon is a single-speciality ICM ST6, currently an ICU echo fellow. He is FUSIC heart/lung accredited, about to finish BSE L1, and working towards EDEC. His echo interests lie on the clinically-focused side, with a particular interest in using integrated heart/lung USS to augment clinical decision making at the bedside in the acutely deteriorating patient.
Naz is a stage 3 ICM trainee doing her SSY in echo in Hammersmith, currently working towards her level 2 accreditation.
Chamin is a locum consultant in Intensive Care based at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals. He has a passion for ultrasound and teaching. He has completed FUSIC HD and is a mentor for FUSIC Heart and Lung.
John is a stage 3 dual trainee in intensive care and emergency medicine in Scotland. He is a trainer in FUSIC Heart, Lung, & Abdomen.
Chris is an ACF in Intensive Care with a clinical and academic interest in shock, haemodynamic coherence, and microcirculatory function. He is a trainer for FUSIC Heart and Lung, FUSIC HD accredited, and takes every opportunity he is afforded to wax lyrical about resuscitation.

Segun is an Intensive Care Consultant at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, with special interests in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), critical care outreach, clinician wellbeing, point of care ultrasound, equality/diversity/inclusion, and online education. His real claim to fame is running an award winning wedding cake and confectionery business with his wife, Fehintola; he primarily functions as Chief Taster, and occasional Dish Washer.
Hannah is an ACCP and Associate Professor at Warwick Medical School, with a clinical background spanning 20 years in cardiothoracic transplant, ECMO, and critical care. She serves as the UK National Lead for FUSIC Heart and Vice Chair of the FUSIC Committee, and examines for both FUSIC HD and fTOE. Outside of echo, she is an enthusiastic advocate for productivity systems she only partially implements, and can usually be found planning her next trip somewhere with good mountains and bad wifi.
Chris is an Intensive Care Consultant trained in London. He has completed fellowships in critical care echocardiography at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and Nepean Hospital Sydney, and holds the BSE proficiency accreditation in TTE (L2 - ACCE) and TOE. He co-edited the textbook ‘Ultrasound for the Generalist - A Guide to Point of Care Imaging’ and has developed general ultrasound resources for SLICE. Chris volunteers for a humanitarian NGO and utilises POCUS as an integral diagnostic tool on 6 monthly expeditions.
